Ana De Biase Ph.D

Fundadora del Institute of Bilingüal Education

Ana de Biase has actively worked to promote the importance of bilingualism as an essential tool for promoting human development. She has lived and worked in Europe and America, specializing in the areas of psychology, education, and linguistics with a focus on the cognitive processes involved in language acquisition, second language learning, and the development of bilingualism in institutional and social settings.

Her interest in teaching and research has led her to specialize in psycholinguistic approaches in general, and in the following topics in particular: 1) Theories of mother tongue and second language acquisition (L2), 2) Cognitive development in second language learning; and 3) Cognitive perspectives on the development of language competence. Thus, her main interest lies in promoting bilingualism through dissemination, research, holistic curriculum design, and teacher and student training through consistent pedagogical strategies.

In 2020, the University of Chicago awarded her a special mention, being selected for the University of Chicago Outstanding Educator Award. This is a recognition of teaching excellence aimed at educators who have substantially influenced, stimulated, or aided students throughout their educational journey, promoting their intellectual and personal growth in a comprehensive way.
